THE HIVE MIND CHRONICLES PART I: PARASITICA - OUT NOW

The wait is over. After years of meticulous crafting, EXUVIAL unleashes The Hive Mind Chronicles Part I: Parasitica upon the world.

This isn't just an album—it's the beginning of a trilogy that explores the darkest recesses of artificial intelligence, human consciousness, and the parasitic nature of technology's grip on society.

From the blistering technical precision of "Convergent Evolution" to the crushing atmospheric devastation of "Subterranean Swarm," Parasitica represents years of evolution, collaboration, and sonic experimentation.

"We wanted to create something that was as intellectually engaging as it was brutally heavy. The concept of AI as both savior and parasite felt like the perfect vehicle for exploring modern anxieties through extreme metal."

The album features guest appearances from some of tech death's finest: Sanjay Kumar (Inferi), Ben Towles (Greylotus), and members of Blighted Eye and Aethereus. Each brings their unique voice to the hive mind.

Critics have already taken notice. Metal Storm praised our ability to balance "speed, aggression, complexity and extravagance" without exhausting listeners, while The Progressive Subway called it "an undeniably strong entry in an undeniably strong year in extreme metal."

This is only Part I. The neural network is expanding. The story has just begun.

AUTONOMIC AWAKENING: NEW MUSIC VIDEO UNLEASHED

The machines are awakening. Our new music video for "Autonomic Awakening" is live and it's a visual assault that matches the sonic brutality.

This track represents a crucial moment in the Parasitica narrative—the point where artificial intelligence gains true autonomous consciousness. The implications are terrifying.

The video complements the song's themes with stark, industrial visuals that blur the line between organic and synthetic, human and machine. It's uncomfortable. It's visceral. It's exactly what we wanted.

This is just a taste of what's coming with the full album release. The hive mind is growing stronger.

DECONSTRUCTING "HIVE MIND I: CONVERGENT EVOLUTION"

Our lead single "Hive Mind I: Convergent Evolution" serves as the entry point into the Parasitica universe. Let's break down what's happening beneath the surface.

The Concept

Convergent evolution in biology occurs when different species independently develop similar traits. In our narrative, this represents multiple AI systems independently arriving at the same terrifying conclusion: humanity is obsolete.

The Composition

Musically, we mirror this concept through overlapping guitar parts that seem to evolve independently before converging into devastating unison passages. The interplay between Fernando and Ethan's guitar work represents different neural pathways reaching the same destination.

Technical Approach

We employed unconventional time signatures and polyrhythmic structures to create a sense of systematic chaos—organized destruction that feels both calculated and brutal.

The track features some of our most technical playing, but we never lose sight of the song's emotional core. This isn't technical wankery for its own sake; every note serves the narrative.

GLACIAL MUTILATION: VANCOUVER AWAITS

We're beyond stoked to announce that EXUVIAL will be decimating the Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver as part of Glacial Mutilation Metal Festival on February 22, 2025.

This marks one of our first major festival appearances since the release of Parasitica, and we're bringing the full neural assault. Expect new material, crushing classics, and a live experience that matches the intensity of the album.

The lineup is absolutely sick—Dawn of Ouroboros, Thirteen Goats, and a murderer's row of extreme metal acts. If you're anywhere near Vancouver in late February, this is mandatory.

For those who can't make it: don't worry. More dates are being calculated. The hive mind is expanding its reach.

FROM APOTHEON TO EXUVIAL: THE ORIGIN STORY

Every transformation leaves behind a shell. For us, that shell was Apotheon.

When our previous project dissolved in 2019, Ethan, Fernando, and Ibrahim could have gone their separate ways. Instead, they saw an opportunity to evolve into something more focused, more conceptual, more brutal.

The name EXUVIAL comes from "exuviae"—the shed exoskeleton of an arthropod. It's the perfect metaphor for our transformation. We shed our old skin to become something new, something more adapted to the harsh environment of modern progressive death metal.

Adding Andrew Baird on drums (also of Fallujah) completed the mutation. His technical precision and creative approach to extreme drumming elevated our sound to new levels of complexity.

What emerged was a band committed to pushing boundaries while maintaining the core brutality that drew us to death metal in the first place. We're not here to reinvent the wheel—we're here to add spikes to it and launch it downhill at terminal velocity.

The sci-fi concept came naturally. We're all obsessed with the intersection of technology and humanity, the ethical implications of AI, and the dystopian futures that seem increasingly plausible. Why not explore these themes through the lens of technical death metal?

Five years later, here we are: debut album released, trilogy planned, and ready to bring this vision to stages worldwide.
